Topic: Even God Has Secret Things (5)
Main Text: Job 15:6 – “Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.”
Brethren, welcome to another moment of illumination with our Kingdom Matters Devotional. I pray that the Spirit of wisdom will rest upon you, and your tongue will come under divine control, in Jesus’ name.
In this fifth edition of Even God Has Secret Things, we shall consider “When Your Mouth Becomes a Witness Against You”. First, our main text reveals that a man can come under accusation, not because God spoke against him, nor because the enemy overpowered him, but because his own mouth testified against him.
Beloved, many people have not been ruined by witches, visible enemies, or the withdrawal of divine mercy. Rather, they were brought down because their mouths became evidence against them in the court of the spirit. In fact, your lips can become your accuser and your words can become your judgment as shown below.
- Careless Words Spoken in Anger – In moments of anger, many utter words they cannot retrieve; words of doubt, frustration, rebellion, and self-sabotage. For example, a man says, “Nothing good ever works for me.” A woman says, “I will never marry.” A minister says, “This church will not grow”. Can I remind you that what is spoken carelessly on earth can be reinforced spiritually. In other words, your mouth must never be allowed to frame a negative reality around your destiny.
- Revealing What God Is Still Building – There are things God begins in secrecy. There are seasons when heaven is quietly shaping destiny. But impatience pushes many to announce what God has not authorized for public discussion. They reveal visions too early. They discuss divine instructions too loosely. They broadcast sacred dealings carelessly. And soon, opposition arises, sometimes from places they themselves exposed. As a matter of fact, loose tongue can become the doorway through which warfare enters.
- Defending What God Is Correcting – One of the most dangerous uses of the tongue is self-justification. When correction comes, instead of humility, the mouth rises in defense. In such instances, Instead of repentance, it produces arguments. The Bible says, “Thine own mouth condemneth thee.”
This means that sometimes, judgment is self-sponsored. Simply put, many people have talked themselves out of favor, relationships, opportunities, and spiritual elevation, not because God shut the door, but because their own lips did. - Speaking Fear Instead of Faith – Your confession is powerful. It either agrees with God or agrees with fear. The enemy understands the power of utterance, which is why he pressures believers to speak from bitterness, jealousy, pride, and unbelief. As a matter of fact, some destinies were not delayed by demons, but by repeated negative confessions. Therefore, be careful what your mouth signs spiritually.
At this juncture, I urge you to pause and ask yourself these questions.
- What have I been saying about my life?
- What have I declared about my future?
- Have my words been building or breaking?
- Have my lips aligned with faith or with fear?
Friends, permit me to tell you that many people pray against external enemies while their greatest enemy sits behind their teeth. You must understand that a careless tongue can tear down what years of prayer have built. A wrong confession can weaken spiritual authority. A loose mouth can expose what should have remained covered in prayer.
Child of God, there are dealings between you and God that must not be spoken carelessly. There are divine processes that require silence. There are matters to seal in prayer, not scatter in conversation. Ask the Lord in this season to put a bridle on your tongue. Ask Him to sanctify your speech and teach you to speak life, faith, and wisdom.
May your mouth no longer testify against you. May your lips align with divine purpose. May your confession preserve your destiny.
And may your words never become weapons in the hands of the adversary.
See you in the next edition.
Shalom
