Main Text: Matthew 17:9 – “And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.”

Brethren, welcome to the second edition of our series, Even God Has Secret Things. I pray that through the mystery and wisdom in this study, God will deliver you from costly mistakes and teach you the power of spiritual discretion, in Jesus’ name.

In the first edition, we learned that the sovereignty of God is seen in the mysteries He keeps within Himself and reveals only to those He chooses. We saw clearly that not everything about God is for public display. There are sacred matters in the dealings of God that are preserved within divine boundaries and unveiled only according to His will and timing. In this second edition, we shall look closely at the life and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, and what He teaches us about the discipline of secrecy.

Kindly study our main text for this edition and you will discover that out of the twelve disciples, Jesus chose only three, Peter, James, and John to accompany Him to the mountain. The others were left behind. This alone teaches us that not every revelation is meant for every audience. Our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated divine wisdom through strategic secrecy. On the Mount of Transfiguration, He allowed Peter, James, and John to witness a glorious encounter, but as they descended from the mountain, He expressly commanded them not to share what they had seen until after His resurrection. Why was this necessary? Because revelation without timing can produce confusion, premature exposure can disrupt divine processes. As a matter of fact, what is true can still be untimely and what is glorious can still be hidden for a season.

Child of God, you must understand that not every testimony is for today. Not every encounter is for everybody and not every revelation is meant for immediate publication. In fact, some secrets are seasonal. Some manifestations of God must be protected until their appointed time. Unfortunately, if such an encounter happened in our generation, an age of cameras, phones, and social media, many would be tempted to publish it before even reaching the foot of the mountain. But Jesus, the Master of wisdom, showed us that divine encounters are not for careless display. In our day, some believers are too quick to announce what God is still nurturing. They expose what heaven is still processing. They speak publicly about what should still be incubating in the place of prayer.

Friends, permit me to ask you, must every dream be announced? Must every encounter be shared? Must every little thing God is doing in your life be brought into the public spotlight? Can I tell you that when a man strikes a match, he first shields the flame from the wind until it becomes steady enough to burn openly. In the same way, some things God begins in your life must be guarded until they are matured enough to withstand opposition because what is prematurely exposed may be prematurely attacked.

By divine precedent, as captured in the Mountain of Transfiguration, Jesus is teaching us that secrecy is not fear; it is wisdom. Silence is not denial; it is discernment. Keeping certain things hidden is not hypocrisy; it is spiritual maturity. In all sense of humility, it is safe to say that Jesus walked in the pattern of His Father by preserving certain mysteries until the appointed time! That encounter remained with the three disciples until the proper season of disclosure. This means that heaven itself respects process, timing, and sacred boundaries.

May God deliver you from the weakness of careless speaking. May He deliver you from the urge to display everything. May He teach you to guard divine encounters with maturity and reverence.

See you again in the next edition.

Shalom
