Topic: God Has Secret Things (1)
Main Text: Deuteronomy 29:29 – “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
Beloved, welcome to another fresh encounter with the Word of Life. I pray that your sacrifice of service will yield the expected results in your life and family in Jesus’ name.
First, let me remind you that in this generation, everything is exposed, displayed, and broadcast without restraint. Yet in the midst of this attention economy, a culture of constant unveiling, the Bible reminds us that God Himself has secret things. This truth is both humbling and instructive. If the Almighty, who is perfect in wisdom, power, and love, chooses to keep certain things hidden within His own counsel, then it becomes clear that wisdom demands that His children also learn the discipline of secrecy.
Child of God, permit me to tell you that not everything about God is open to men. Specifically, the Bible says, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God.” This means there are dimensions of His nature that are not public property, counsels of His will that are not carelessly disclosed, and mysteries of His dealings that are not accessible to all. There are divine strategies hidden in His wisdom, sacred purposes buried in His sovereignty, and spiritual depths that cannot be handled by the casual or the careless. Even those who walked closely with Him only knew in part as stated in 1 Corinthians 13:9, saying “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.”
Friends, Moses encountered this reality on Mount Sinai. There, God unveiled sacred matters to him that were not revealed to the entire congregation of Israel. That encounter teaches us that while God is loving, He is not cheap. While He is merciful, He is also sovereign. His love does not cancel His mystery, and His accessibility does not remove His sacred boundaries. To this end, if God Himself operates with holy discretion, then spiritual maturity requires that you also understand that not everything revealed to you is meant for public consumption.
Therefore, in this series, we shall carefully consider the matter of keeping secrets, the power of spiritual discretion, and the battles faced by men and women who failed to preserve what should have remained hidden. As a matter of fact, I can confirm to you that many of the problems among the children of men can be traced to secrets they carelessly released, secrets that later became weapons in the hands of their adversaries. Similarly, many destinies have been delayed, many relationships damaged, and many battles intensified simply because what should have been guarded was prematurely exposed.
Therefore, I urge you to approach this study with openness of heart and sobriety of spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to take you through this life-transforming journey. If you remain sensitive to His voice, the lessons in this series will not only deepen your understanding but also preserve your life, strengthen your walk, and protect your destiny.
May the Lord grant you wisdom to know what to reveal, what to conceal, and how to handle divine matters with reverence.
See you in the next edition.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to respect divine mysteries and to handle sacred revelations with wisdom. Help me to discern what must be spoken and what must be kept in sacred trust, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Shalom
